Strike Party

After our Sunday show, 12/8, we will "strike" the theater, removing everything we brought into the theater.  All parents should actively participate in this process.  If your committee work is done, please ask those still working, and see if they can use your help.

Remember, if you brought it in or requested another to bring it in for you, you must take it out of the theater or make other arrangements.

Cast members will remove their boxes from the green room by taking them out to their car, and thoroughly clean the green room spaces.

When our "strike" is done we will begin the Strike Party in the commons.  If you ordered a dinner, it will be served there.  If you did not purchase a meal you can certainly bring in dinner from home or any other meal you choose!  All are invited to attend the party.

At the party kids will exchange their last Secret Pal gift (valued at $5 or less) for the big reveal, we will eat together, say our thank yous and the Artistic Team will pass out certificates to all the kids as well as special awards to both the cast and crew.

Scripts and CD Deposit Return

Scripts and CD's can be turned in to Josh Bode (Stage Manager) at the Strike party for a return of the deposit you made at the beginning of our rehearsals.  Josh will compile a list of all items returned, that list will go to our office, and deposit check(s) (which are stored there) will be returned to all those on the list.

All marks in scripts must be erased before turning the script in.  Cast members who do not return their script or CD on Sunday will forfeit their deposit.

Second Weekend Update!

*Friday, 12/6, Cast and crew are called at 6:00 for our 7:00 show.

*Parents who set up in the lobby can begin at 5:00.  Any children with you that are not in the cast and crew must stay with you as you work.

*The tables we used last weekend are in the elevator and stacked in the hall in front of it.

*If you are a Secret Pal, REMEMBER YOUR GIFT!  There will be a table in the green room for gifts.  Take them with you when you check in and leave them on the table.  Be sure the name of your Secret Pal is clearly placed on the gift.

*If you have a parent pass and would like to use it for any show this weekend, be sure and sign up on the Parent Pass list at the Will Call table when you arrive prior to each show.  Tickets will be passed out (as available) to parents in the order they are signed in.  Parents with a parent pass cannot seat themselves in the theater without an actual ticket.  Names will be called just before each show opening and tickets distributed by the Will Call table.

*We have two shows on Saturday.  Call time is 2:00 for our 3:00 show.  Cast and crew will stay at the theater until the close of the second show.

*If you purchased a meal, it will be served Saturday between the 3:00 and 7:00 show.  If you did not purchase a meal be sure and pack one for your child.

*Sunday call time is 1:00 for our 2:00 show.

*We will be having Worship at the theater at 12:00.  Please join us if you can!  We will close Worship before 1:00 so cast and crew can make the 1:00 call time.

See you Friday!!

School Day Show!

Cast and crew are called at 9:00 AM.

We have one show at 10:00 AM.

There is no intermission break and no meet and greet time at our school day show.  If your child's class is coming to the show, your child will be able to go directly to the lobby after the show, in costume, to meet their class.  They will have a few minutes to visit!

Pick up time after our show is 12:00.  Please be on time for pick up.

As another post explains, tickets are on sale until Wednesday at 3:00 for individuals who would like to come to the school day show.  It will be the full show, no cuts.  We will also be selling tickets at the door.

We do not have use of our regular green room as class is in session.  Kids will go directly into the theater.  Cast members will do costuming and make up on stage.

Cast members will have the back hall as their green room space for this show.  Those in the lighted room will still have the use of that room.

Parents who stay for the show can park out near the tennis courts, along the curb on 39th (the signs posted are no longer valid), or in the lower parking lot.

Please call me if you have questions.  Often my phone will not ring while I am in the school building.  If I do not pick up a call on Thursday morning, please leave a message.  I will check them often!

Ticket Totals For Closing Weekend

Here are our current ticket sales numbers for our closing weekend.  Tell everyone you know, there are lots of great seats still available!

Tickets On Sale For The School Day Performance

Individual tickets to Millie's school day performance are available on our website for $8 each until 3 p.m. Wednesday; and will also be available at the door (cash or check).  People can use their Parent Passes for this show and there are plenty of seats available.

Help Us Build A Great Program!

In talking with our Program Committee Chair yesterday, we have come to the conclusion we need your help!  At this point the program committee has about $1100 in ad sales.  It takes$2000 in sales to have a program, $2500 in sales to have a program with cast and crew photos and $3000 to get a color cover.  We have a ways to go!

Here are three ways you can help:

1.  Ask a business you familiar with if they would like to purchase an add in our program.  Your parent packet included a photo copy of ad prices.  Another choice here would be to pass on the name of a "good ask" to our program committee and they will make contact.

2.  If you own a business, please consider placing an ad.

3.  Place a congratulatory ad, by the due date, and those funds go toward our ad sales total.  Parents can also place a display ad at a reduced price!  This is great to celebrate a first show, last show, special friendship, support from family that is too far away to attend, etc., and it can include special photo(s), and your own special wording.  Our program designer will help you put the ad together.

Our program ad due date is two weeks away, our second parent meeting on November 15th.

This is going to be a fantastic show!  Seeing our Act I run through Saturday absolutely convinces me of this ~ I am looking forward to having a correspondingly great program!

Five Tickets This Week!

Okay Millie Cast & Crew...here's a check in to see just how THOROUGHLY you're hitting the ticket sales this week.

Ryan Barr
Katelynn Gookin
Brandon Henefin
Sierra Long (she's already at 21 tickets!!!  GO SIERRA!)
Tirza Meuljic

That gives the rest of you 3 more days to make your goal!  You can do it!!  Have you already handed out all the bookmarks you grabbed?  Did you give them to every classmate (even if you think they might not want to come, you can still give them a handy bookmark)?  How about your school library?  Will the front desk or counseling office put a stack of them out for students to use? Have your parents bought their tickets yet??

LET'S BEAT THE DRUM CAUSE WE'RE SO THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE NOW!

The Voice of Journey

If you are a current student in Journey Theater Arts Group classes, we'd love for you to audition to be the Voice of Journey!    To audition, call our office between 3 pm and 9 am during the week, or anytime over the weekend (when our office is closed) and after the voicemail tone, introduce yourself and then read through the script below.    The chosen voice(s) will come to our office in Vancouver for a recording session and the recording will be used as the Curtian Warmer at our Fall shows. Submissions will be accepted until 9 am on Wednesday, October 16th

Script:   Welcome to Journey Theater Arts Group and our production of The Phantom Tollbooth Jr.

What you're going to see is a show performed by students ages 8-18, like me!  We take classes through Journey to build our skills in singing, dancing, and acting.   There's a wide variety of great classes to choose from and there's something for everyone!  If you're between the ages of 6-18, or if you know someone in that age range, be sure to get signed up for classes!  Registration for Winter will begin soon and you don't want to miss out!

Explore our website, journeytheater.org for all the info about classes and the fabulous shows we have happening right now!  You don't want to miss Fiddler On the Roof Jr. in Portland, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in Beaverton, or Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. in East Vancouver.

At intermission, be sure to visit all the great tables in the lobby.  We've got souvenirs, refreshments and a silent auction.  All the proceeds help support the work of Journey theater and even provide scholarships and financial aid so more kids can be involved.

We couldn't do these shows without the great support of our show sponsors: Pioneer Pest Management and Dentistry on Officers Row.  We want to thank them not just for supporting live theater, but theater that changes lives.  Let's give them a round of applause

Now remember, there's no eating or drinking in the auditorium, and no video or photography of any kind.  If you have restless little ones with you, an usher can help you exit during blackouts and applause.

I think it's about time to get on with our adventure.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy The Phantom Tollbooth Jr..
